Mike Reiss is reporting that thanks to a 3 touchdown pass performance on Monday Night Football, Matt Cassel has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week. In related news pigs are flying (and not just Sarah Palin in an airplane, zing!)….

The Patriots have not yet officially announced that Tom Brady is out for the year yet, but Chris Simms is on his way to Foxboro for a physical tomorrow (according to NBC).

Mike Reiss took a second to answer a couple of quick questions for me too (how cool is that, especially right now?)

Me: Is Matt Gutierrez going to come back now?

Reiss: Could be on Gutierrez, but they’ll look in other areas too.

Me: I know Testaverde announced his retirement last year, would he and could he come back (and would the Pats want him)?

Reiss: I think Testaverde might be done.
