The Boston Celtics survived their 2nd back to back in a week, to outlast the New Orleans Hornets 94 – 82. On a night that James Posey received his World Championship ring, Boston fought poor shooting and foul trouble to bring the team to the best start in franchise history (22 -2 ).

Milan Lucic and Phil Kessel continued their torrid scoring pace, helping to net a 4 goal lead, to blast the Atlanta Thrashers 7 – 4. Boston trails only the San Jose Sharks (Hello Mr Thornton, 48 Points) in points with 44. Kessel is in the midst of a 14 game point streak and is now the NHL’s 3 leading goal scorer with 18.

So I think we said that Matt Cassel wasn’t Tom Brady. I guess we were right. Matt Cassel just did something that only 4 others in NFL history have done and NEVER in Patriots history, thrown for 400 yards in 2 consecutive games. The Patriots shot themselves in the foot in the 1st half, all the while moving the ball up and down the field on offense. They obviously fixed it in the 2nd half, blowing out the Miami Dolphins 48 – 28.

The Boston Celtics cruised to their 5th straight win, blasting the Toronto Raptors 118 – 103.

In case you missed it, the Black Bears Football team was selected into the FCS playoffs, they face University of Northern Iowa Saturday in Iowa at 5PM.

A New Direction For the Central Maine Sports Blog

Posted in Army, Big East, Central maine sports blog, Lewiston Maineiacs, University of Maine on November 17, 2008 by cmsplog

First off, I want to say the Central Maine Sports Blog has gone a lot farther than I thought it would. We have cultivated some great relationships in the media world and professional sports. As the Editor in Chief of the Central Maine Sports Blog, I want to announce to you, the readers, a change that is coming to the blog. No it’s not going anywhere, and no I’m not quitting (sorry to disappoint some of you with that news). What we are going to do is concentrate more on Maine sports, specifically the Portland Pirates, the Lewiston Maineiacs, the University of Maine Black Bears, and the Portland Sea Dogs. Obviously the pro teams in the area will still get coverage (as will the Pirates parent club, the Sabres), and we will also continue our coverage of the Big East and of Army Sports, as I feel it is very important that Army’s student athletes get coverage. We on the staff feel this is going to be a better way to serve you, and also give us on the staff an easier game plan from day-to-day. We have other exciting ideas as well, and we will continue our Maine Guides rememberance. The morning links will be done with a distinctively Maine feel to them, highlighting the local teams, Maine athletes in the news and the like. We welcome any suggestions any of you may have, and if there is anything you would like to see us do, shoot us an email at editor@centralmainesportsblog.com.
Oh, and this change does not affect the radio show at all, it remains the same hijinks’s and hilarity.
